Amending previous works now that so many webpages are being consumed and destroyed by Ancestry, we have to move on to continue our Family History this day of September 15, 2023 after 30 years of research and sharing with others online and in person. My new SEARCH is located at http://search.freefind.com/find.html?id=83817246 Welcome! ( https://alabama-roots.angelfire.com/INTRODUCTION.2020.html Beginning my genealogy research was so much fun and so fascinating! Dad's sister Bernice sent me copies of her many years of collecting data and photos of our elders. Her cousin Dorline Gray had been sharing with her too and a lovely cousin in Arizona found me, Martha Hawes, granddaughter of Lucius Powhatan Little. Martha's mom Laura was in the DAR and had the records of Captain George Little. Another cousin Chuck Cochran had shared his line with me so we had a lot to work with! Many webpages were free to create so I put my Family Tree out there for the world to read and I received MANY emails about our connections and I met some great new cousins in Alabama that my mother had never known. Things changed - pages vanished - as they were sold out they got scrambled, so please be patient if one of my links fail to work. www.familysearch.org is still free, all done by volunteers of LDS and the www.usgenweb.com is free, holding tons of archived records from the 1600s and I have uploaded several documents and photos to share. If my weblink fails to those, simply do a websearch and you should find it as the internet changes, things upgrade and one simple dot or letter can through us off track. There are several books online ( e books ) that you can now enjoy reading because many of our ancestors are in them! Search for L P Little, or Milo Custer, Doyle Fenn's "Wagon Tracks", Sketches of Bozeman and there are more referenced in my family tree maker pages. In the American Revolution General George Washington and a General Lincoln were right along our many grandfathers who battled the British, War of 1812, and Daniel Boone explored Kentucky just before Captain John Handley went in and got hundreds of acres in Vienna, inviting his sisters to join him, and one had married Captain George Little and later on the census we find a neighbor named Squire Boone. The Littles were all into politics and Judge L P Little was on the ballot with President and neighbor U S Grant. George had a grandson named Hiram in Kentucky who was a surgeon in the War Between the States, while Davy Crockett was in the Battle of the Alamo with another Hiram Little. As Martin Weatherford left Virginia after the War, he was granted a huge plantation in Georgia and there he led 300 Creeks against the british. Thoe who settled in Ohio were the first to teach and the first to build churches. The stories go on and on. My mother's family led me to two men on the original Mayflower, Edward Doty and Samuel Fuller. MOST of our many grandfathers served their country in the Military, most in the American Revolution, and their sons served as needed. As I read through the History of Alabama, it stated that most had Indian wives. Very few ladies came over the ocean to be Americans until later on in history. When I got to the part of Chief Red Eagle, I found that his Creek mother was Sehoy III, a daughter of Sehoy II and the grandchild of Sehoy I, wife of a great Creek Chief. The Creek blood may run through both of my parents' lineage ! Creeks had Georgia, Alabama, and Arkansas and who knows what else. The Cherokee had the Carolinas, Tennessee, and Kentucky before going to Oklahoma. I was amazed one day as Dolly Parton was doing an interview on TV saying she was Cherokee ! Her faith, love of music and people, makes her an awesome lady. The faith and spirituality of my family has been so admirable to hear about. Mom's grandma Lorena could lay her hands on someone, pray and heal them. I visited her hometown of Dublin and Ramer and folks still remember her healing skills and told stories about going to her for help. Daddy witnessed it himself. Then he talked about his mom's time in the fields digging healing herbs and roots and about her birthing a baby Irma, born with a veil over her face and the doctor removing it and it appeared again ! After removing the second veil, his mama said she would keep that third one and placed it in her Bible and Irma still has it in her posession. That veil would sweat when something was about to happen. I also read about Pocahontas and her father had many wives and many children, such as her half sister Cleopatra who has been studied by several others but may be in our line as well. Cleopatra married her Dad's brother ! Then the lineage of Pocahontas led down through the years of journey into Alabama and on to Arizona where the singer, Wayne Newton resided. Daddy remembered seeing Wayne as a child, when we lived there many years ago. Daddy was a fabulous contractor and then I found that Mom's daddy did a bit of it as well. Grandpa Carter worked on a 1937 Oak Park project, a lovely Pavilion enjoyed by many in this nice 50 acre city park, where my own parents "courted" when they met. Long before interstates came in! My family tree has over 20,000 members and my research files and documents are stored on this webpage and many tombstones on Find A Grave as I slowly join others to locate lost family cemeteries. Mother's Bozeman ancestors were in Virginia in the 1600s, then McClain, Fann, Stone, Carter and more on the east coast during the American Revolution. The stories are endless and amazing to me as her Peter Bozeman was captured at the fall of Charleston, so was my daddy's ancestor, George Little :) George and several brothers came to America and did hope for freedom and were found in South Carolina, The Cochrans, Coonfields, Henderson, Clendennings were in Pennsylvania in 1700s, while their Parker and Tefft families came from Rhode Island, Mass. and New York indian territory, all moving into Ohio, then Iowa and Kansas. John Brooks born 1837 Pennsylvania is found in the 1860 Tennessee census just prior to his marriage to Roxanna Permilia Smith and then they are found in Texas in 1870 and 1880. Those census records indicate that his father was born in Holland and his mother in France. Roxanna's family was in Tennessee long before the Trail of Tears. Her mother Caroline Bond was the daughter of John Baptist Bond, and Caroline might have remarried two or three times. Roxanna's son was named John and he married Annie Clark Ballard, a daughter of Dora Craig and James Ballard, and her family was another group of early settlers into Tennessee. Dora's mother was Rebecca Caroline Pennington. Annie had only one child, named James who served in WWI and wrote letters to her from France. James married Susie Mae Cooper and we knew her as Mamaw. Susie's parents were Levi Benjamin Cooper and Sarah Elizabeth "Sally" Carter. Sally's parents were Mary Josephine Herreferd and Thomas Randolph Carter. Levi's parents were Sarah F. Lee and Charner P. Cooper of Chambers County Alabama. Many of these are buried at Greenwood Cemetery but when Thomas died, Mary buried him beside his first wife Lacy Jane Bozeman and their children in Hope Hull's, Carter-Stokes Cemetery on the old family plantation, a beautiful setting off McLean Road. Mamaw's grandson Clarence published an article about his survey of this area in the Alabama Cemetery Preservation webpage and Clarence shared copies of the family photos that are found within this research. Mamaw did name a son James Brooks Jr and he married Mary Thornton, a daughter of Bessie Hood and Milton Elijah Thornton. Bessie's parents were Ella Olivia Baxley and L. W. Hood while Milton's parents were Mary Angeline Partridge and George Thornton. Parents of Ella were Louisa Miranda Holt and James H. Baxley. Lacy's grandfather Peter Bozeman is studied on my other webpage. With a further study and photos on this page. And my mother's family research of the Carter - Fenn - Stone - McClain lineage as continued here. Of course when my daughter married a Westbrook, her children will need to learn about their daddy's ancestors from Marengo County Alabama. .. http://family-history-pages.angelfire.com/Documents2.html about Captain George Little of Scotland in the American Revolution and settled in South Carolina before Tennessee and Kentucky. Mom's Bozeman cousin at the DAR meeting. Lovely lady and her son greeted me to my first meeting. https://freepages.rootsweb.com/~southernbranches/genealogy/B/BOZEMAN/norma.joined.dar.and.mayflower.society.jpg Anne Carter n Frankie Cochran http://family-history-pages.angelfire.com/ DAR accepts Peter Bozeman born about 1750 in North Carolina https://freepages.rootsweb.com/~samanthasgenealogy/genealogy/MISCELLANEOUS/Bozeman.html SEARCH FEATURE https://freepages.rootsweb.com/~southernbranches/genealogy/search2014.html https://freepages.rootsweb.com/~brooksgenealogy/military/Blake.html http://trackingyourroots.com/pdf/ElishaAndersonWill.pdf http://freepages.rootsweb.com/~southernbranches/genealogy/B/BOZEMAN/0-1600s.Peter.Symon.Harman.Ralph.William.Ambrose..who.came.first..html https://www.genealogy.com/forum/surnames/topics/coonfield/ http://freepages.rootsweb.com/~brooksgenealogy/military/Blake.html http://freepages.rootsweb.com/~samanthasgenealogy/genealogy/MISCELLANEOUS/Bozeman.html http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/00031/0007601.html search it https://freepages.rootsweb.com/~southernbranches/genealogy/search2014.html george little http://family-history-pages.angelfire.com/Documents2.html http://family-history-pages.angelfire.com/ https://freepages.rootsweb.com/~southernbranches/genealogy/home.html https://accessgenealogy.com/alabama/autauga-county-alabama-genealogy.htm https://accessgenealogy.com/native-american https://freepages.rootsweb.com/~samanthasgenealogy/genealogy/MISCELLANEOUS/Bozeman.html http://kathy-cochran.angelfire.com/ http://kathy-cochran.angelfire.com/KC-Home.html has many documents recorded and still under construction this day as Ancestry continues to remove our work, I am trying to preserve as much as possible for future researchers. Several little houses were on the farm. His daughter Virginia married a McClain and a Sam Cook, father of Gaddis Cook, the Millbrook pharmacist that Debby Brooks worked for after school. Frank donated a piece of land to the Coosada Baptist Church for a cemetery. He and his are buried behind it on the hill in a private area with the Cooks beside him. Frank's son BOB became principal at the Robinson Springs School where the Brooks children attended and he later sold the farm to the county to build the new Coosada Elementary where Samantha Brooks Broadway will send her children. *** Samantha, Kathy and Pam were privileged to meet Martha and learn more of the family history. ==================================================== Grandmother Ann Carter.... S. Government for serving in the military during the Revolutionary War to gain freedom from England. He was in Georgia by 1758 according to his records. He appears to have to returned to North Carolina and perhaps Virginia but returned to Georgia. Zachariah Fann was born to Henry & Winifred Fann in Richmond Co., VA on 20 Dec 1730 (REGISTER OF NORTH FARNHAM PARISH 1663-1800, in Richmond Co., VA.). He seems to be among the first to change the spelling from FANN to FENN. As a young man, he was in Amelia and Dinwiddie counties of Virginia. His name is spelled Zachariah in the North Farnham Parish Register and in most county records, but he used the spelling Zacharias when he wrote his will.
